Description
The 2020 update to the National Building Code included major changes to energy efficiency requirements for small buildings. This free course, developed by RSM Building Consultants in partnership with the Alliance of Canadian Building Officials’ Associations and Natural Resources Canada, takes learners through these new requirements using videos, checklists, quizzes, and interactive learning content.
Participants will begin by learning how and when to apply the new code provisions, followed by a brief module on building science. Next, the course will use examples to take learners through the requirements for each tier of both prescriptive and performance compliance pathways. Air tightness, energy modelling, and practical applications are integrated throughout the course to ensure participants come away with the confidence they need to apply what they have learned during both plans review and inspection of new homes.

Learners will join instructor Gerald Moore, a certified building official with over 25 years experience in the building inspection field as he takes new and experienced inspectors alike through the process of inspecting single and multi unit houses. In this first of a five part series, participants will learn the necessary soft skills and tactics for inspecting excavations, footings, and foundations.
